Bob Pinchin

Bob Pinchin has spent over 20 years working in the ICT publishing sector in New Zealand and the UK. Bob spent four years as the CEO of IDG Communications, publishers of Computerworld, CIO, PC World and Reseller News. IDG Communications is the world's largest IT publisher (publishing over 300 magazines and newspapers globally) and was one of New Zealand's largest publishers (IDG's New Zealand titles were acquired by Fairfax in 2006).

During his tenure at IDG, Bob was also heavily involved in helping to grow New Zealand's magazine publishing industry, and spent two years as chairman of the New Zealand Magazine Publishers' Association (MPA).

Prior to becoming CEO at IDG, Bob held a number of senior executive positions with IDG, including publisher (Computerworld, Reseller, PC World and CIO) and sales director. He has extensive sales, sales training, business development, event management, and new product development experience.
In the UK, Bob worked for Reed Publishing, where he was the sales manager for Contracting, a publication that Reed took over from FI Publications, where Bob was instrumental in the initial launch and growth leading to the acquisition.

Bob also has extensive experience in the IT recruitment industry. He held a number of senior roles at Compucare PLC, one of the UK's largest specialist IT recruitment companies.

Bob graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from the University of Kent where he specialised in economic geography and market research.

 

Mark Evans

Mark Evans has over 20 years' experience in the IT industry in New Zealand and internationally. His experience includes information technology, sales, marketing, business development and senior executive management roles.

For over ten years, Mark was the CTO at IDG Communications, the largest global publisher of ICT publications, including Computerworld, PC World and Reseller News.

Mark worked for IDG in New Zealand, and was also the Asia Pacific Director of IDG's Global Web Support Centre - a group set up to focus on online publishing best practices; including strategy, technology, sales and business development. He held a global role in helping IDG to identify technology best-practices, and in establishing standards such as a global XML standard for IDG's content.

Mark's expertise spans a range of disciplines and industries. He has worked as a programmer, analyst, systems programmer, and executive in industries including FMCG (Nestle), advertising (Infomatics), finance (Eagle Star Insurance group) and publishing (IDG). He has also worked at Rogen, a communications consultancy specialising in coaching executives in face-to-face communications skills - presentation training, pitching, negotiation, influencing and sales.

Mark graduated from Melbourne University with a Bachelor of Arts, double-majoring in English and philosophy, and sub-majoring in computer science.

 

Selwyn Pellett

Selwyn Pellett is a Kiwi technology entrepreneur. He has established a number of technology start-ups and has over 20 years' experience managing fast growing technology companies in New Zealand and internationally.

Since 2001 Selwyn has focused on network security solutions for telecommunications, financial services and government customers and telematics solutions for use in large vehicle fleets. As the former CEO and co-founder of Endace Ltd he was instrumental in the company becoming, in June 2005, the first New Zealand registered company to list on the UK’s AIM stock market.

Selwyn’s extensive experience in international sales, marketing, and strategic planning from small start-ups through to multi-billion dollar corporations gives him a unique perspective on building New Zealand based companies and expanding them into international markets. Selwyn is passionate about helping New Zealand to develop a high-wage, high-growth economy. He has consulted with government ministers and advisors on industry and economic policy, and been involved in numerous initiatives aimed at building and retaining skills and expertise to support a hi-tech economy.

 

Bruce Buckman

Bruce Buckman has 19 years' experience in IT publishing, with IDG Communications and Fairfax Business Media. He has worked on Computerworld, Reseller News and PC World. He has at various times held the roles of assistant editor, editor, editorial director and associate editor on PC World, New Zealand’s longest running and best-read technology publication.

In his years testing and reviewing technology products he has developed expertise in evaluating and explaining technology to a general audience. Bruce also has extensive experience in internet publishing and development, having worked as web development manager at IDG Communications. As PC World editorial director and web development manager he was also a member of IDG Communications’ senior management team.

 

Jane Smallfield

Jane Smallfield's background in advertising, public-private partnerships and PR has given her a unique ability to assist companies across a broad spectrum of marketing and communications challenges, from a strategic as well as tactical deployment

Her clients continually benefit from her pragmatic advice and ability to deliver as an exceptional writer, manager and adviser.

Prior to joining Swaytech, Jane was programme manager for the NZ HiGrowth Project Trust, where she was responsible for delivering multiple initiatives to grow New Zealand’s ICT sector. Her high-level communications and project management skills saw her engage right across New Zealand's technology sector from large corporates to small start-ups and with government agencies and education providers. She was also involved with the development of industry awards programmes and a valued participant on industry advisory and governance boards.

She has also run her own successful PR consultancy specialising in technology companies and initiatives, including the 'knowledge age' lobby group, NZ Inc, and worked as a recruitment consultant with Lampen, as a PR consultant with Exxtel Communications, and as a production writer with Radio New Zealand.

 

Sara Goessi

Sara Goessi has worked in publishing for 20 years in various roles including editor, production editor, project manager, content editor and publisher. She was formerly special publications manager at IDG Communications, where she was responsible for one-off magazines, supplements and contract publications. She also managed IDG Communications’ design, sub-editing and production departments, and print management for all IDG titles. She was founding editor of teen tech magazine Actv8 and former deputy editor of PC World and has contributed to numerous magazines including Unlimited, Case, NetGuide, MOB, Inspire and Real. Her pre-IT publishing career included tourism and educational publishing.

Sara has also managed a number of website launches, from project management and producing content and creative briefs to managing budgets.

Sara has a Master of Arts (Hons) in English from the University of Auckland.

 

Michael Mcleay

After six years as a graphic designer Michael Mcleay moved into the highly specialised, technical world of 3-D design and animation. His skills cover the full range of graphic design including logo design and corporate identity development. He particularly excels in the on-line environment, his technical programming ability linked with finely honed artistic skills enabling Michael to deliver an exceptional result every time for all of his clients.

 

Elijah Ng Chok

Elijah Ng Chok completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts majoring in 'moving image' (film and TV) before specialising in web-based design at Media Design School. Elijah is a rarity in the design world - an artist who always delivers on time while remaining a perfectionist. His attention to detail and originality brings something unique to the websites and on-line communications he produces.
